I was born in Colorado in 1961 and raised in the mid-west.  I strive to express the beauty of God's world around me, whether through the landscape, the figure or the simple beauty of everyday objects.  I work mainly in oils and enjoy painting primarily from life.  This often means setting up my easel outdoors and painting "en plein air."

My career in art began in 1993 when I started painting on a freelance basis for Hallmark's Keepsakes Division, a job I still enjoy on a part-time basis today.  But after a near fatal heart attack in the fall of 2006, I decided it was time to get serious and really learn to paint.  I enrolled in an oil painting class with Mark Christopher Weber in his Kansas City studio where I studied for two years.  I continue to learn and grow as an artist by seeking out artists I admire to learn from them.  These artist include:  Michael Albrechtson, Joshua Been, Billyo, Quang Ho, Jeff Legg, Richard Schmid and Karen Vance.
